Independence...Security...Convenience...Tranquility

Benedictine Manor is a Catholic Retirement facility sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery in Cullman, Alabama. Persons of varied faiths are welcome.

The Manor offers senior adults, aged 60 or older, comfortable and convenient residential accommodations in one or two-room units. Freed from the responsibilities of maintaining a house and yard, thirty or so Manor residents enjoy active, independent life among men and women friends on campus and elsewhere.

The campus is located on the almost 200 acres--mostly grass and trees--of Sacred Heart Monastery in the beautiful Mountain Lakes Region of North Alabama, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. A small pond reflects fruit tree blossoms in the Spring and colorful leaves in the Fall.

Benedictine Manor Offers:

* Bright One- and Two-Room Units with private baths, ample storage space.

* Three meals daily.

* All utilities (except telephone), cable TV.

* Biweekly housekeeping service.

* Convenient access to kitchenette and laundry facilities.

* Beautiful, spacious grounds.

"The spirit here encourages everyone to stay lively. We can choose activities in Cullman, Birmingham, Huntsville or stay home and participate in a variety of activities on campus. Most everyone, though, gets involved with something! We can keep busy playing cards & games, gardening, making ceramics and other crafts, playing music, whatever we're interested in." --Benedictine Manor resident

 [View of manor room]To reserve a personal living unit at Benedictine Manor, only a refundable deposit equivalent to one month's rent is required; there is no endowment. The moderate monthly charge includes all utilities, meals, general maintenance, biweekly cleaning, linen/laundry services, cable TV and security for all residents.

"Having a regular schedule for meals, social and spiritual activities keeps me active and fit..otherwise, I wouldn't be as motivated to take care of myself. I can stay independent longer in this environment." --Benedictine Manor resident

As a residence for people who are able to maintain an independent lifestyle, no medical services are provided by the Manor. In addition, Cullman has two hospitals, various medical specialties and services, {Foyer interior view} and is less than 1 hour from Birmingham and the world-class UAB Medical Center. Many residents drive their own cars, and limited local public transportation is available to all.

The Manor has adequate parking spaces near the building for residents' convenience. Transportation is provided to community concerts, periodic local outings, and occasional trips overnight or longer.

"There's a feeling of community among the residents. Everyone shows concern and really cares about you. The Benedictine Sisters make you feel like you're somebody special, that you're important." --Benedictine Manor resident

At Benedictine Manor, residents experience activity, companionship, convenience, security, privacy, peaceful and spiritual support.
