"So, like, what do you do all day?"

Sister ThereseThis is one of the most frequently asked questions that a vocation director hears. And the answer is: "It varies." Since we were founded for prayer and community rather than to do any particular work, each sister discerns, in dialogue with others-especially the elected Prioress, where her God-given gifts and talents can best be used in service of God's Reign.

Our prayer together and our life together in community form a framework or structure to the day for each of us, but much of the day is spent in ministry. In other words--like you, we work.Sisters peeling vegetables

But it is important to us that we strive to maintain a balance of work and prayer. Each has its proper allotted time. Ora et labora (Prayer and work) is a Benedictine motto that reminds us of this priority of maintaining a prayerful balance in our life of ministry and community.
