On February 10, 1988, the Feast of St. Scholastica, the Federation of St. Scholastica’s new Constitution, Call to Life, was given final approbation in Rome, signed by the Prefect of the Congregation for Religious and Secular Institutes.
This was the culmination of countless hours of study, discussion, consultation, and prayer over many years by and on behalf of the member communities of the Federation. Several of our Sisters were instrumental in the process of developing the constitution. The community as a whole was involved in discussing it at different stages in its development and in approving it prior to its submission to the Vatican office. The new Constitution clearly asserted the monastic character of the member communities of the Federation (now entitled Monastic Congregation of St. Scholastica).
