Sister Elisabeth and Sister Therese recently returned from two weeks of participation in Leadership and the Rule of St. Benedict, a course taught at Sant’Anslemo Pontifical University in Rome. They were among 23 monastics from 14 countries who participated in the program. Courses were led by business school faculty from European universities who were each paired with a monastic in a co-teaching model. This allowed the theoretical management and business content to be augmented by the perspective of a monastic experienced in various forms of leadership.

A trip to Subiaco, the place where St. Benedict spent three years as a hermit, was part of the program. The two sisters from Cullman were also able to see several other sites important in the Church and/or in Benedictine life, most notably, St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Paul Outside the Walls, and Monte Casino.
