Sister Magdalena celebrates 60th Jubilee

Sister Magdalena signs her renewal of profession on the altar.

Sister Magdalena Craig, OSB, marked sixty years of fidelity to monastic life on Friday, June 12, in a simple, joyful celebration with the monastic community. Sister Magdalena entered Sacred Heart Monastery as a postulant in 1964, made her first monastic profession in 1966, and perpetual profession in 1971.

In addition to her formal ministries of liturgist, organist, and Director of Initial Formation, Sister Magdalena is known within the community for her love of reading and for nearly always having a book or theological journal in hand. She is quick to volunteer whenever an extra hand is needed, and is faithful to hidden assignments such as serving at the monastery switchboard and distributing the community’s mail. Sister is appreciated by her monastic sisters as a good and treasured community member who lives Benedictine life faithfully and well. Marking this sixty-year milestone of daily fidelity to monastic life was a joyous occasion for the monastic community.  Following the Jubilee Mass, a festive lunch was enjoyed by all the sisters.
