The monastery had some special visitors today. Bishop Steven Raica of the Diocese of Birmingham and Archbishop Mark Rivituso of the Archdiocese of Mobile stopped by while visiting religious communities in northern Alabama. Archbishop Rivituso is the Metropolitan Bishop for the ecclesiastical province to which our diocese belongs. He was installed as Archbishop of Mobile this past September.
Sister Elisabeth Meadows, Prioress, and Sister Veronica Ryan, Subprioress, hosted the two bishops during their visit. They enjoyed conversation over cups of coffee, followed by a visit to the monastery chapel. Several other sisters were also able to greet the bishops during their visit. It was wonderful to welcome Archbishop Rivituso on his first visit to Sacred Heart, along with Bishop Raica who we always enjoy welcoming to our monastic home.
