Celebrating Women – Respite from the Storm (on-line retreat)

September 25, 2020 - September 26, 2020

Our annual Celebrating Women retreat will be held on-line, allowing participants to gather with others from the comfort and safety of their own homes.  Entitled Respite from the Storm: Healing Body, Mind, and Spirit, the retreat will include shared meditations, an art project (mandala-making), reflections, and a time of Deep Relaxation Yoga.  We will gather on Friday evening (6:30 – 8:00 pm, CST) via Zoom video conference for introductions and sharing.  On Saturday we will meet again on Zoom from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (CST).  Participants will need a stable internet connection with audio and video capability and the most current version of Zoom software.  If needed, Retreat Center staff will be glad to assist with questions about Zoom for those unfamiliar with this meeting software.  Additionally, a quiet, private setting is necessary for privacy of self and others on the conference and also to create a retreat atmosphere for yourself.  There will be two 15-minute breaks on Saturday if you have children or others who need to be checked on.

Retreat Directors: Sister Mary McGehee, O.S.B., and the Celebrating Women Team

Cost: $45.  (An optional donation to Sacred Heart Monastery may be made at registration for those who wish.)

Date and time:
Friday, September 25, from 6:30 – 8:00 PM (CST)
Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (CST)

  • Centering Prayer is a form of Christian prayer rooted in the ancient Christian contemplative tradition. Its purpose is to foster a deeper intimacy with Christ through the silence and stillness of contemplative prayer. This time of pandemic has led many to seek to deepen their relationship with God through this wordless prayer of contemplation. This weekend retreat is designed for those new to Centering Prayer. The participants will keep silence for the weekend, but there will be opportunities for questions and discussion about the practice. To register, please select ONE of the following options.
