Lazarus (Zoom) April 9, 2022

April 9, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

In the Eastern Church, the Saturday before Palm Sunday is Lazarus Saturday. Not included in the 40 days of Lent or Holy Week, it is a transitional or “hinge” day, a joyful prelude to the difficult week to follow. Using John 11 and the traditional Russian Icon of the Raising of Lazarus, we shall go to Bethany with Jesus, meet his friends Mary and Martha, hear Him call Lazarus from all that would bind him and begin His own journey to death and resurrection. To paraphrase Jesus’ invitation at the outset of John’s gospel: “Come and see.”

  • Centering Prayer is a form of Christian prayer rooted in the ancient Christian contemplative tradition. Its purpose is to foster a deeper intimacy with Christ through the silence and stillness of contemplative prayer. This time of pandemic has led many to seek to deepen their relationship with God through this wordless prayer of contemplation. This weekend retreat is designed for those new to Centering Prayer. The participants will keep silence for the weekend, but there will be opportunities for questions and discussion about the practice. To register, please select ONE of the following options.
