During our city’s 2019 Oktoberfest celebration, we will offer our very first Oktoberblest event, a new ‘lunch and learn’ series featuring German saints and German cuisine. This year we will learn about St. Gertrude the Great, a 13th century German saint who was also a Benedictine nun. Rooted in the ancient Christian contemplative tradition, the goal of this form of Christian prayer is to foster a deeper intimacy with Christ through the silence and stillness of contemplative prayer. Centering Prayer is a form of Christian prayer rooted in the ancient Christian contemplative tradition.  Its purpose is to foster a deeper intimacy with Christ through the silence and stillness of contemplative prayer.
